EAs football giant takes to the pitch once more but has this years game been outpaced by the rejuvenated PES 2016? In fact its always interesting to see what publishers consider the most important thing to mention on the back of the box, and with FIFA 16 its the womens teams, a new training mode, and FIFA Ultimate Team Draft. Again, no mention of any gameplay improvements, except for a vague reference to new ways to play. The new no touch dribbling allows you to press a shoulder button and immediately break away from the ball. This works fine, but giving it its own button feels clunky and less organic than PESs approach to the same problem. Indeed, midfield action in general feels stodgy and fragmented, we assume because of complaints that FIFA 15 played too fast and arcade-like.
The big news is that this year's update of FIFA will include... gasp... FEMALE PLAYERS. Not such a radical move, you would think, but it caused great consternation when it was revealed that FIFA 16 will include some international teams from the women's game. About time too. FIFA 16 features 12 Womens National Teams for the first time in franchise history and also include game modes Match Day, an Offline Tournament, and Online Friendly Matches. We will know more after the EA press conference at E3 today. Ive mentioned how FIFA 16 has a ton of new features, but it still falls victim to the yearly game conundrum. As someone who plays FIFA 15 on a regular basis, Im just not sure if 16 is worth the upgrade. Of course, this year, we have the women. Thats huge. But I want more teams and not just national selections. How about incorporating the National Womens Soccer League? Maybe next year.
Heres the other rub: even though fifa 16 coins traders the news release about this feature has come around just in time for the start of the 2015 FIFA fifa coins traders Womens World Cup in Canada, there wont be any specific tie-in to the quadrennial tournament in FIFA 16. Again, itd be hard to expect the developers to put together 24 teams (up from 16 at the last Womens World Cup) of players, particularly with the games release coming many months after the conclusion of this years tournament. And I dont think anybody wouldve legitimately expected the depth of features and options available in a full-fledged World Cup title like what EA SPORTS typically puts together, again due to the time crunch and this being a first effort towards adding women to the game.
